1:00 AM Monday Morning

Panama City police are investigating a fatal, head-on collision near the top of the Hathaway Bridge.

The crash happened around 12:30 Monday morning. A van and car collided head-on.

The driver of the car died on scene. The driver of the van was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Panama City Police Sgt. Joe Cheri told us no one witnessed the crash so they are still trying to determine exactly what happened.

We're on top of the Hathaway bridge in reference to a two vehicle traffic crash with a fatality. Both vehicles had a single occupant, just the drivers. We're still trying to determine the facts of the case in regards to direction of travel both vehicles. At this time one driver was transported to the hospital with injuries and the other passed away here at the scene.

Police completely shut down the bridge for about 20 minutes while paramedics and firefighters responded. The westbound span of the Hathaway Bridge is still closed for repairs so both directions of traffic share the eastbound bridge where the crash occured.

wonder if the woman he was following did make it home? I wonder too if she sleeps at night knowing that this is what this young man died for, drinking and driving and it wasn't even him that was drinking while intoxicated .... God please give this family strength!

I dont understand why the man was not arrested. Ryan was on his side of road. Mexican, who they believe was intoxicated, crosses line and kills him. What kind of sign is the sheriffs office waiting for.
