Missing 8 Month Old and Caregiver Located

UPDATE 11:45: The Panama City Police Department located the 8-month-old child and her caregiver Wednesday around 11:45.

They were both located through investigative leads that detectives developed and through tips called in by citizens.

Both the caregiver and the child were in good health and the child is now receiving services through the Department of Children and Families.

There are no further pending criminal charges.

Further information cannot be released, as this is a family in need of services case through DCF.

The Panama City Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing 8-monthold child and her caregiver.

The child is not believed to be in any danger by the caregiver, however, she is considered missing as her custodial mother has been arrested.

The child is described as a black female, 8 months old and believed to be 27” tall.

She was last seen being pushed in a small stroller on Tuesday night around 6:00 near the area of McKenzie Park in downtown Panama City.

The caregiver is described as a white female, 25 years of age, who goes by the name Dezarae. The caregiver has been seeking help from businesses and citizens in the area to obtain food, clothing and needs for the child and herself.

All involved in this incident are believed to be homeless.

The mother of the child, Tiara Young, first reported the incident to the Panama City Police Department on Tuesday evening. Young reported her child missing as a possible abduction.

Young stated during the initial investigation the child was taken from her care without her consent at the Rescue Mission while she was seeking assistance.

Officers and detectives learned during the investigation that Young had in fact asked the current caregiver to watch her child the day before so that she could have a break.

Young left the child with the caregiver and departed the area.

The next day Young reported the child missing and fabricated her story in an attempt to have her child located by the police.

Young was arrested on Tuesday night around 11:00pm. She was booked into the Bay County Jail, charged with contributing to the dependency of a child and false information to law enforcement during an investigation.
