Panama City Beach City Council members voted Thursday to make two changes to the "Leave No Trace" ordinance.

One part of the amendment shifts the hours of enforcement. Under the change, beach-goers will be required to remove their personal property from the beach from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The orignial hours of enforcement were 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

City officials said the change will prevent crews from working after sunset and protect sea turtle nesting activity, but some were worried the new hours would upset some beach-goers.

"You know somebody leaves and gets a drink and comes back to watch the sunset, which is a big thing obviously on this beach, and their tent is gone, it's going to be a problem," said beach business owner Neel Bennett.

The second part of the amendment also requires motel and condo owners to post "Leave No Trace" notices in all their rentals. According to the Panama City Beach City Council, the Tourist Development Council said it will cover those costs.
