Panama City Beach Police are wrapping up a long holiday weekend, full of work. While thousands were here playing on the beaches, police were busy keeping them all safe.
They responded to nearly 350 calls over the last few days. 22 people were arrested for crimes ranged from drunk and disorderly conduct to assault. However, most were misdemeanors.
Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman said, "Memorial Day brings in a lot of families to kick off the summer season. Crime's usually low everybody goes to bed early. And like I said, I put officers on extended shifts, I bring in my investigations unit out so there's a lot of law enforcement presence out there."
Whitmam says at any given time he had between 12 to 30 officers working the streets during the Memorial Day weekend.
