PANAMA CITY BEACH - Panama City Beach Police are investigating the drowning death of a 1 year old boy.

It happened a little after 2:00 Friday afternoon at the the Edgewater Beach Resort condominium complex.

Investigators say family members found Guadalupa Martinez face down in a bathtub.

The boy's mother ran next door and neighbors called 911.

When paramedics arrived the boy was unconscious.

They performed CPR and took him to Gulf Coast Medial Center, but doctors there pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police say the boy has lived in the condo with his parents and 2 siblings for the last 3 months.

Police are still gathering information.

"The indications I'm getting right now is on his front, face down in the tub. Mother's saying she only walked out of the room for a few minutes, but that's the information we are trying to gather at this time," said Drew Whitman, Panama City Beach Police Chief.

The Medical Examiners Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
