PANAMA CITY- Panama City commissioners could take the next step tomorrow that will allow the city to collect bed taxes.
The commissioners are scheduled to discuss and vote on a proposal that would eventually result in a 5% bed tax city-wide.
The committee that's been studying the issue estimates the tax would raise about 3 million dollars during the first 2 years, that would be used to market the area to tourists.
If city commissioners approve the proposal tomorrow, then it will go to Bay County commissioners for consideration.
If they approve, it would go on a ballot for Panama City voters to approve.
We'll have coverage of tomorrow's Panama City commission meeting.
