Panama City Man Arrested Alleged Battery of Two Young Children

On Monday, the mother of the children came home to find 22 year old Jonathon Jeffrey Baker extremely angry with her. The victim stated to deputies that Baker grabbed her by her hair and threw her to the ground. Baker then demanded that she go to a nearby convenience store and buy a cigar for him.

Baker took her two children and kept them with him while the victim went to the store.

When the victim returned, the oldest child had a bloody nose. According to the victim, Baker smeared the blood all over the child’s face and then told the child it was all Mommies’ fault.

The victim then watched as Baker picked the child up by the hair and threw the child to the floor because the child wasn’t moving fast enough. The younger child also appeared to have injuries to the face and neck.

The victim was able to get away the next morning, traveling to a nearby restaurant and calling 911.

Both juvenile victims were taken to receive medical care. The oldest child had several large bruises to the head and face, a lacerated lower lip, a large lump on the back of the head, bruising to the arms, back, chest and legs, and was missing a portion of hair from the scalp.

The younger child had injuries consistent with being grabbed forcefully by the throat and face.

When deputies and investigators arrived to apprehend Baker, he hid in the home.

The victim, owner of the home, allowed deputies to enter. Baker began trying to hide within the home.

When he was told that a BCSO K9 was going to be set loose in the home to assist in his apprehension, Baker came out from hiding and was taken into custody without further incident.

Baker was arrested and charged with domestic battery/aggravated battery, aggravated child abuse, and child abuse. He also was served with several outstanding warrants for domestic battery and a failure to pay fine-no driver’s license.
