Panama City- It started with sounds of gunfire around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, followed by 911 calls to police, dozens of officers immediately arriving at the scene.
What they found inside the Glenwood home off East 8th Street and Bonita Avenue was a blood bath of a crime scene. Angelina Brunson, her Aunt Mary Richardson, and boyfriend Marco Bostwick were all dead from gunshot wounds. Police said Bostwick pulled the trigger. Family and friends were in absolute shock.
"Just unreal, just can't believe it," said family member Jakeila Finley.
"Something got out of hand. Something got out of hand for Marco to react the way he did," said family member Keila Allen.
Apparently nobody saw this coming, but a look at the couple's rocky past may provide some answers. Brunson and Bostwick, a former state prison inmate, had a history of child support battles and domestic violence.
The couple also recently lost their home to foreclosure. That's when Brunson moved in with her aunt. Bostwick turned to public housing only to be evicted. The couple were also said to be fighting for custody of their daughter, seven years old.
"He loved his daughter. His world was his daughter," said Allen.
A year ago Brunson had even filed for a restraining order against Brunson, something that just may have prevented Tuesday's tragedy, but she later withdrew that injunction.
"You never know, like they say, you never know what goes on behind closed doors," said neighbor Evan Robinson.
The couple's daughter, who witnessed the shootings, is now the only one left in their small family of three, and all she has left to hold onto is her Great Aunt Richardson's dog Junior.
Investigators said the child is safe and in the care of extended family. They're asking for the community to pray for her.
