Panama City -- The Bay County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the arrest of a 62-year-old Panama City man who they’re charging with possession of child pornography and marijuana.

Tuesday, members of the Bay County Sheriff's Office Criminal and Special Investigations Division (SID), along with agents from ICE / Homeland Security Investigations, arrested Timothy Sorrell after executing a search warrant at 2823 E.12th Street in the Cedar Grove area and finding a computer in the process of downloading files of child pornography.

Sorrell is charged with nine counts of Possession of the Sexual Performance of a Child.

Since December 2010, investigators with the BCSO Criminal Investigations Division (CID) have been conducting an investigation into the downloading of child pornography via the internet. Files have been identified by investigators which contained graphic images of the sexual performance of children, some less than 10 years of age.

A felony amount of marijuana was also found in the Cedar Grove home, and Sorrell was additionally charged by SID narcotics officers with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school.

Sorrell faces first appearance Wednesday. This investigation continues, and further charges are expected.
