Panhandle Unemployment Rates for the Month of September

There is good news on the jobless issue here and across the panhandle. The unemployment rates for September are out and the rate improved in Bay and Every other county in the Panhandle.

All the Panhandle counties’ employment rate dropped by an average of 0.2%. Liberty County's rate decreased the most while Bay County was the only county in the area that increased.

In Bay County, the September rate was 8.0%, up 0.1 of August’s 7.9%.

In Jackson County, the September rate was 7.1%, down 0.4 of August's 7.5%.

In Walton County, the September rate was 5.5 percent, the same as August.

In Washington County, the September rate was 8.9%, down 0.4 of August’s 9.3%.

In Calhoun County, the September rate was 8.0%, down 0.4 of August’s 8.4%.

In Franklin County, the September rate was 6.3%, down 0.1 of August’s 6.4%.

In Gulf County, the September rate was 8.3%, down 0.2 of August’s 8.5%.

In Holmes County, the September rate was 7.2%, same as August.

In Liberty County, the September rate was 6.7%, down 0.5 of August’s 7.2%.

In Okaloosa County, the September rate was 5.9%, down 0.2 of August’s 6.1%.

Across the state, Florida's September rate was 8.7%, down 0.1 of August's 8.8%.
