Pedestrian Critically Injured on West Highway 98

The incident happened about 4:40 Friday afternoon near the intersection of Mound Avenue and West Highway 98 in St. Andrew.
Police say a car hit an older man.

They don’t know it he was trying to cross the street or ended up there in some other manner.

Paramedics took him to Bay Medical Center where he was taken to the new Trauma Center. He is reported to be in very critical condition. His identity is being withheld at this time.

Police have closed highway 98 from Mound to Grant Avenue so they can collect evidence from the scene. They are asking people to avoid the area.

Details of the crash are still under investigation.
