PANAMA CITY BEACH-- If you're looking to add a furry friend to your family, Pier Park is giving people the chance to adopt a pet this summer.
Bay County Animal Services and Enforcement teamed up with the Animal Care Center earlier today to show off animals up for adoption.
Seven dogs and two cats joined new families, for a $25 adoption fee.
Organizers say these events give people the opportunity for a convenient adoption if they can't drive to the facility itself.
"They're not there by their fault. They're there by their misfortune," Organizer Paula Hunter said. "So it's great for the community to have the opportunity to be able to see that. It's hard for some people to physically come into the shelter. So this gives the community the opportunity not to have to go to the sad, per se, shelter as they perceive it."
If you missed today's adoption event, there are two more this summer on July 26th and August 30th.
