Police Busy Thursday Night After Two Car Crashes

Local authorities spent parts of their day working two car crashes that hurt several people and damaged property.

The first happened a few minutes before 6:00 Thursday evening on 23rd Street. According to Panama City Police, a car eastbound on 23rd ran the red light at the intersection at Stanford Road. The car it an S.U.V., spinning it around hitting a pick-up truck. The pick-up then hit 2 more cars. Only 2 people in the 5 vehicles were injured. Those injuries were not life threatening. Traffic was briefly backed up, but police cleared the lanes quickly.

The second crash happened about the same time, at the intersection of Middle Beach Road and Richard Jackson Boulevard.

Panama City Beach Police say 2 cars heading east on Middle Beach tried to turn left onto Jackson. A vehicle heading west on Middle Beach hit the 2 turning drivers. Paramedics took 2 people to the hospital, but they say neither was suffering from life-threatening injuries. Police say all 3 drivers are claiming they had the right of way. The crash is still under investigation.
