Historically Florida has the most Powerball winners, because it has the most players. With the jackpot cracking half a billion dollars, ticket sales are soaring.
Wednesday Floridians were buying Polwerbal tickets at a rate of close to 10,000 per minutes. One Panama City Beach Express Lane store sold more than $1,000 in just 30 minutes.
Ben Bancroft spent $600 for the chance to strike it rich, "Some friends all decided to throw in $20 a pierce. WE wanted to see if we could retire early."
