Preliminary Report Released for Sandy Creek Plane Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report of a small plane crash near the Sandy Creek Airpark last week.

The report shows that the left and right wing fuel tanks were empty.

A total of three gallons of fuel were found in the aircraft.

Bay County Sheriff's Deputies received a call last Wednesday morning from Tyndall Air Force Base officials, reporting the crash about a mile from the airpark's runway.

52-year-old Larry Eli Caison was flying from West Palm Beach to Destin.

Caison reported the plane had lost engine power, so he attempted an emergency landing at Sandy Creek.

But he fell short.

Caison died in the crash.

The NTSB are continuing to investigate the crash.
