Preparations for Spring Break Begins

Many Panama City Beach hotels are already busy booking spring breaker.

"We have actually started making a few reservations,” said Erica Masters, the Seychelles operations manager. “We get inquires daily, the phone has not stopped ringing for people checking on it."

Seychelles Beach Resort is family friendly and management is picky about who stays during the spring break season, but that has not stopped the phones from ringing. Local law enforcement has also been busy working for the past month to make sure this year's Spring Break is the safest and smoothest ever.

"We're meeting with all the local leaders and businesses to make sure everyone is on the same page on how we're going to handle this year's Spring Break," said Lt. David Baldwin with the Bay Co. Sheriff’s Department.

Traffic has been a big issue the last few years.

"Every year we have traffic, but last year was very heavy on South Thomas, Joan and North Lagoon."

Bay County Sheriff's Officials are adding extra personnel, making traffic flow, especially during special events, their top priority. Extra police is welcome news for hotel management, and they said that is the key to having a successful year.

Authorities say they will be communicating traffic trouble spots to locals especially during the peak hours of 3 to 7 in the afternoons and evenings.
