3-department of corrections workers are facing charges for allegedly taking bribes at the Calhoun Correctional Institute in Blounstown.

Investigators arrested Colonel Sammy John McAlpin, and officers Nicholas Hansford and Stephen Pickron on Wednesday.

The officers are accused of taking thousands of dollars from the families of inmates in exchange for those inmates receiving special privileges, protection and contraband.

The arrest details several Western Union money transfers to the facility during 2010 and 2011.

All three were charged with unlawful compensation for official behavior.

McAlpin was also charged with official misconduct.
