Rash of Car Burglaries May Be Linked

The Bay County Sheriff's Investigators believe a string of car burglaries from this past weekend may be related.

The Sheriff's Office received 23-reports of car burglaries this weekend on Panama City Beach, almost three times the number of car burglary reports they usually get.

Officials say of those 23, 20 of them could have easily been prevented.

Only three vehicles were actually broken into.

The rest happened because drivers left their doors unlocked.

"We do think that the vehicle burglaries in the north lagoon area are connected. suspect descriptions are three black males on bicycles that were seen in the area," said Maj. Tommy Ford. Bay Co. Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's officials are urging drivers to keep valuables hidden, and lock their doors.

They say the Cedar Grove has more vehicle burglaries in the county than any other city.

If you have any information on these burglaries, please contact the Bay County Sheriff's Office at 747-4700.
