Relief at the Gas Tank

According to AAA the price for gas has seen a small, but steady, decrease in price over the past month and residents and visitors alike are enjoying the relief as the busy summer driving season begins to take off.

Nationally, gas prices average out at $3.49 a gallon, Bay County is below the trend with most gas prices ranging between $3.30 to $3.50.

Those filling up say they're noticing the difference and are grateful, but thing they'll see a big jump with July 4th weekend right around the corner.

"I'm happy to see it going down," said Nancy Stanford, "but I see on special occasions, special weeks and things like that, because of tourists, they go up."

"I'm hoping to see it go down more because I think eventually we're gonna end up pulling from our own reserves," Donna Lasseter commented, "but the lower it goes the better."

"It would be great to be under $3 a gallon again," said Mick Martin, "but take what you can get, you know what I mean? Beggars can't be choosers so you take what you can get."

Just a few months ago, AAA had the average gas price in Florida close to $3.75, Sunday, their website puts the average at $3.45 statewide.
