Panama City Rescue Mission and Bethel Village provide an enormous service for our area, helping the homeless and those in transition.
Mission officials say they could not do the job without a lot of volunteer.
They honed those volunteers tonight during an awards banquet at the Boardwalk Beach Resort.
Attendees received the red carpet treatment.
The term volunteers not only mean individuals who offer their time, but local business that offer money and services.
"I mean it's amazing what goes on at the mission," Melissa Schuller, 2013 Volunteer of the Year, said. "The volunteers and the people who come and pour their hearts out to the people at the mission and the guys in the recovery program. It's just amazing."
The mission honored ten "Unsung Heroes" and four area businesses.
