Rosenwald Graduates Bring History to Life in the Glenwood Community

Updated: Sat 7:51 AM, Sep 29, 2012

Members of the Glenwood community gathered kicked-off phase one of the African-American Culture Center community building project Friday.
The goal is to keep the African-American culture alive in Glenwood.
The Rosenwald high school class of 1962, shares more than just their graduation date.
They share a love for the Glenwood community and the school, which they want to help preserve.
"See what we could do to increase our legacy of our class here within the county," said classmate Clarence Parrell.
The class presented a banner to the community Friday honoring Rosenwald principal Calvin C. Washington.
"To revitalize some of the history and culture of our school and C.C. Washington."
Rosenwald classmates say Washignton was a wonderful man who prepared them for the future, and gave them an appreciation their hometown community.
This banner project is the first step toward revitalizing some of the history and culture of the Glenwood.
"We've got to turn the community around, but the key to it, all of this, will be for all the younger citizens," said Panama City Commissioner Kenneth Brown.
A town hall meeting will be held so citizens can give their feedback on the banner and if they would like to see more of them in the future all along MLK Boulevard.
A date for that meeting has not yet been set.
