Routine Security Check Lands A Bay County Male In Jail

PANAMA CITY-- Panama City Police say an alert officer is responsible for a pretty large drug bust.

The officer says he noticed 29 year old Jorge Chacon sitting in a car with a woman during a routine security check at the Royal Arms Garden Apartments.

When he approached the car, he says he smelled the strong scent of marijuana.

Police say they searched the car and found all of this, 2 pounds of marijuana, packaging materials, scales, 11-hundred dollars cash, a semi-automatic weapon under the passenger seat and the clip under the driver's seat.

Chacon is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and felon in possession of a firearm.
