Rutherford High Holds First Black History Round Table Discussion

PANAMA CITY -- Some Rutherford High School students took part in a round table discussion as part of Black History month.

The discussion centered around local African American business people, educators and professionals this afternoon.

Those at the round table were some of the first blacks in our area in their careers. The main aspect advisers and teachers want students to take home from the discussion is to embrace history.

Multicultural Club Sponsor Marsha Hall said, "It's important for everyone to know your history, you can't move forward unless you know what happened before that. So I think it's important that you know where you come from."

This is the first year Rutherford High School has had a round table discussion with students. They hope to make this an annual event.
