CHIPLEY, Fla. The Salvation Army in Chipley has announced it will be closing its doors claiming the store doesn't make enough money to stay open.
People in the Washington County area are very upset and have even started a petition to keep the store open, claiming the community depends on it.
Wendy Nowell is one signature of many. 2 years ago, her house burnt down.
"Honestly, had it not been for the salvation army we would not have been able to get back in my house. Putting a house back together is only part of the problem and the money goes so fast."
Other locals say shutting down the Salvation Army will devastate the Chipley community
