Scholarships Named in Honor of Murdered Woman

Three Bay County High School students are receiving scholarships from a brand new program, honoring the victim of a senseless tragedy.

Chelsee Bullock and Auston Jones are receiving $1,000 from the Megan Pettis Memorial Scholarships.

Jean Michelle "Chelle" Baxley will receive $1,000 from the Megan Pettis Community Service Scholarship for her dedication and volunteer work in the community.

Bullock plans to study nursing at Chipola College, focusing on neonatology or pediatrics.

Jones will use the money to complete Haney Technical Center's Auto Mechanics Program which he's already started.

Baxley will attend Gulf Coast State College to pursue a degree in early childhood education.

The Pettis family established the scholarships this year in honor of their daughter, 24 year old Megan Pettis, who was murdered last year by her ex-boyfriend.
