Shoney's Opens in Pier Park

After a 9-year absence, one of the nation's most recognizable restaurant chains has returned to Panama City Beach, but one look inside the new Shoney's at Pier Park, and you'll quickly see it's not the Shoney you remember.

Community leaders snipped the ribbon on the new Shoney's Thursday afternoon, which at 7,500 square feet, is the largest location in the restaurant chain.

Unlike the old Shoney's, this one has a sports bar atmosphere.

"You have approximately over 200 restaurants pretty much in the southeast, and it's extremely exciting to be in panama city beach once again to serve great people in panama city," said CEO David Davoudpour.

But don't worry, it still has Shoney's famous breakfast and dinner buffets.
