A Bay County jury convicted Clifford Washburn Jr. on Wednesday of burglary of a structure and possessing burglary tools.

Assistant State Attorney Dana Morris told jurors in his opening statement that 42 year old Washburn forced his way into Shuckums Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill on Front Beach Road the morning of May 25th, 2011.

On his way in, Washburn severed several electrical lines going into the building, including the one for the alarm.

Instead of deactivating the alarm, it was triggered and police arrived while Washburn was still in the building.

The charges are both third-degree felonies, punishable by up to five years in prison each, but Washburn also has a lengthy criminal record and may face enhancements that could double his sentence.
