Sink Hole Opened Up on Business 98

Panama City utilities crews are working to fix a sink hole that opened up Tuesday morning at the intersection of Cone and Business 98.

They say tree roots were the main problem.

A junction box used to connect two sections of pipe was damaged and caused the pipes to shift and crack.

The large amounts of water from the storms caused the water to erode the dirt from around the pipes and also caused the street surface to collapse.

According to DOT personnel the repairs should be completed sometime Tuesday or Wednesday.
