A small craft adivsory is in effect for the offshore waters of Alabama and northwest Florida beginning late tonight and continuing through early Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, Ala., easterly winds and seas will build late tonight through Thursday in response to a develping area of low pressure tracking northeast over the lower and central Gulf.
As this system nears west Florida waters, winds will increase to 20 knots well offshore overnight. Seas will build from five to eight feet late tonight through Thursday.
Small boaters should use extreme caution, and should avoid trips offshore while advisory is in effect. Waters are expected to calm down by seven in the morning on Friday.
