Sneak Peek Into Advanced Technology Center Wows Visitors

While the inside of the Advanced Technology Center on the Gulf Coast State College campus is bare, it hasn't stopped visitors from seeing the potential in where it's going.

The $35 million facility will house the latest technology across the country with an emphasis on entrepreneurship.

ATC Dean Stephen Dunnivant, Ed. D., said that bringing something like this together requires having all the necessary ingredients and perfect conditions.

"It takes a perfect storm to make something like this. You've gotta have all the right things in place," Dunnivant said, "you would expect this in LA, maybe Boston, Chicago, but it's a wonderful way to move our community and our region forward."

While there is a bit of construction going on, Dunnivant says the facility is 95% complete, and he expects to have students in the doors and in the classroom in August.

"You've got everything from robotics to megatronics to alternative energy to culinary," Dunnivant explained.

The college will hold it's official grand opening for the facility on October 11th.
