South Walton Appears On National Cable Show

The Walton County Tourist Development Council and "Visit Florida" each put up one hundred fifty thousand dollars to bring "Emeril's Florida" to South Walton, one of six locations to be featured in the new series. But TDC officials contributed more than just money.

"We helped fund the segment for South Walton which features not only the great destination but it'll showcase area restaurants the great beaches" said TDC Director Dawn Moliterno.

When Lagasse came up with the series concept, he wanted to include South Walton, which he now considers his home. So he's familiar with what the beaches, and the restaurants have to offer.

The premise of the show is to highlight restaurants in the South Walton area like Bud and Alley's with of course the main ingredient being food.

"Well I cooked three different items for him and we set up right here on the deck" said Bud and Alley’s Executive Chef David Bishop.

Those dishes included a barbecue shrimp, crab cakes and an oyster appetizer. The episode will not only feature Emeril cooking with Chef Bishop at Bud and Alley's, but the crew also ventured out into the gulf.
Moliterno is hoping the show will expose South Walton to a new, wider audience, interested in visiting in the future.

"It's going to show that not only are we a great destination and just remind people to consider South Walton when they're booking that vacation but it's going to remind them of the great culinary that we have here" said Moliterno.

The episode of ‘Emeril's Florida’ featuring South Walton is scheduled to air this Sunday at 10:30 am Eastern, 9:30 Central.
