This article leaves out one KEY POINT...and leads people to assume things such as those in the previous comment by "Brian". This man was MENTALLY ILL. He suffered from schizophrenia and was having a mental breakdown when his mother called 911 to get paramedics to take him to the hospital. The situation escalated and got out of control. He was UNARMED and the police officer shot him in the abdomen. He could have been subdued instead of shot to death. Shame on you for not reporting all the facts, and especially for leaving out the most important one.
did he have weapons. that dept in headland is very corrupt when i lived there do they not have tazers. if the guy had no weapons then the officers should be charged.
The guy was probably drunk and on drugs. The police acted properly. I'm surprised this hasn't happened more in Panama City with the all the bums, drunks, and drug addicts running around. We see this kind of stuff in the ER at Bay Medical Center. Fortunately, we're able to restrain them, put them on the ground, and/or and subdue them without much damage. But, then again, there is usually a dozen of us around. The police probably only had a few guys at the scene.
