A car, which was speeding away from Panama City police last night, went out of control at 16th St and Louise ave and crashed through a fire hydrant and into a carport at a home. A local woman, a passenger in the car, was killed.

Indications are PCPD had stopped the car and it sped away at high speed. The police broke off the chase as the motorist fled into a residential neighborhood where it continued at high speed until it finally crashed.

The car contained three people, the driver and two passengers. One of the passengers has died. She is identified as 34 year old Shantay A. Beach of Panama City.

It still hasn't been officially been determined who was driving the car.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Its usual policy for the Highway Patrol to investigate traffic crashes in which another law enforcement agency may have been involved.
