State College Degrees to Become More Affordable

Panama City - In November, the governor asked the schools to offer 4 year degrees at the bargain price of 10-thousand dollars.

GCSC is one of the last 23 schools to make the agreement. The challenge specifically asked schools to choose one 4-year degree with high business demand.

Currently the Gulf Coast offers two 4-year degrees, one in nursing and the other in technology management. A third bachelor degree for organizational management will begin in August. That could be the one program that gets the budget tuition.

"I think a lot of people are turned off by higher education because of the coast. We are gulf coast have kept down cost down and still offer exceptional quality," says VP of Student Affairs Dr. Melissa Lavender.

Right now GCSC offers the most inexpensive degree in the state for $13,000.
