Storms brings lots of rain, high winds, Tornados to NW Florida


PANAMA CITY. Fla At least 37 deaths have been reported from a large, stubborn storm system making its way through the South after pummeling the central U.S. Today officials in Georgia reported one death in Athens.

Police say winds pushed over a tree that crashed into a car, killing its driver at a mobile home park. In Florida, the Highway Patrol says a woman who drove her car into high water died.

Between 8 t0 10 inches of rain fell in Bay and the surrounding areas. Pensacola received 22 inches.

May streets and highways were flooded and roads were closed in all of the counties in this section of northwest Florida.

Schools were closed in area counties for Wednesday. Some will be closed Thursday. We still dont know the status of Bay County Schools for Thursday.

Heavy rains and flooding have left people stranded in houses and cars. Several families in Bay County had to evacuate from the rising water
