Sunday Motorcycle Fatality at Vernon

One motorcyclist from Alabama was killed Sunday morning in a motorcycle vs car crash on State Road 79 in Washington County.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a car had stopped waiting traffic to clear before attempting a left turn onto Holmes Valley Road.

The motorcyclist failed to see the car waiting to turn. At the last second he started to steer to the right but still managed to crash into the right rear.

Both people on the motorcycle were ejected onto the shoulder of the road. The driver, 29-year-old Robert E. Iddings of Newton, Alabama died at the scene.

His passenger, 31-year-old Trannie S. Iddings, also of Newton, Alabama was critically injured and was admitted to the trauma unit at Bay Medical Center.
