Authorities believe a Crestview man killed from an apparent gunshot wound Sunday morning may have been the victim of an accidental shooting. The incident happened around 10:00am at a home on East Chesnut Avenue in Crestview.

Police say they believe 36-year old Michael Jerome Moore accidently shot himself in the stomach while handling a semi-automatic firearm. A friend took moore to Okaloosa Medical Center where he later died. Authorities originally received conflicting information suggesting someone else may have pulled the trigger.

Police were first looking at this case as a possible criminal investigation, but after collecting evidence and witness statements, they now believe moore accidently shot himself. The entire incident is still under investigation.
