The Florida Electronic Benefit Transfer or EBT card system is back up and running.
The Department of Children and Families says a technical problem at JP Morgan Chase prevented retailers from electronically processing purchases made with the cards for about five hours.
DCF provides cash and food assistance to low income families through the EBT cards.
During the outage, stores could choose to run a manual processing of up to $40. Wal-Mart stores have the ability to process manual transactions of up to $100.
The outage started around 7 a.m. and was resolved just before 1:00 p.m.
