Thanksgiving Day Assault and Battery Ends in Arrest

Thanksgiving Day ended with Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies making an arrest.

25 year old Robert Jacob Cheatham of Freeport was arrested after deputies were called to the area of Bayshore Drive just before 8 p.m. in reference to a physical disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies located the victim of the disturbance with serious injuries to his head.

According to witness statements, Cheatham had been harassing 52 year old Raymond Hinley throughout the week. It ended in Cheatham attacking Hinley with his hands, feet and possibly a metal pipe.

Cheatham was charged with aggravated battery causing harm or disability, a second-degree felony. He was transported and booked into the Walton County Department of Corrections.
