South Walton has been growing for the past couple of months.
Developers are trying to keep up with the demand of the new arrivals.
And that means giving them places to shop and eat.
"It is close to the county line, there isn't much there on what to compete with,” said Louis Svehla, Public Information Officer for the County. “There is certainly some available land that you don't have in the western part of the county. As far as where is the best place to build right now, Inlet Beach is a prime opportunity."
The latest Donut Hole restaurant is already open in Inlet Beach.
Three new developments are on the way.
Two will be retail.
The third is a new hotel.
"At this point we had to go over into Bay County, or over to Sandestin to be able to find those uses and a great place like Donut Hole, we really needed,” said Larry Brocato, a resident of Inlet Beach.
For Anna Hamer, who is a part-time resident to the area, she says for those that are interested in her rental properties, these new establishments will really help.
"They will be able to walk or ride their bikes to go to a restaurant or go shopping which is wonderful, less cars,” said Hamer.
The developers have not announced any specific businesses opening up in the new retail centers.
