After many accidents and fatalities, Walton County Commissioners have agreed to install a traffic light at a dangerous intersection in Miramar Beach.
Residents have been asking for the light at the corner of Highway 98 and Geronimo Street for almost 14 years.
People living in Miramar Beach say not only will it make the intersection safer, but also more convenient for drivers.
"By having a light here, it is going to help the people at the next intersection down because it will create a traffic break in what we call the 'Indy 500 curve, " said Charlotte Flynt of Miramar Beach.
State Department of Transportation officials are asking the county to build three turn lanes before installing the light.
The $400,000 for those lanes will come from the Proportionate Fair Share funds.
