PANAMA CITY BEACH- Police have identified the dead couple as Robert and Susan Marcinkus, from Kenosha, Wisconsin.

"We do know that they were vacationing, they were due to check out today," said Robert Clarkson, Panama City Beach Police Captain.

Panama city beach police say a housekeeper from Tidewater Beach Resort found the two bodies on the 24th floor of the building.

Police say they also found a handgun in the room, shortly after they arrived at the scene.

Some of the resort's other guests say they were shocked by the news of the shootings.

"I never expected anything like that. Coming from the hospital maybe something might have happened there but not like a beautiful resort like this, never even would have thought of it," said Lorenzo Mitchell, Tidewater Beach Resort guest.

Guest apparently weren't the only ones rattled by the tragedy.

"I can see where they are trying to make everything normal and trying to get everybody just as relaxing as much as possible, but I can still see where the employees are a little upset at what has happened."

Beach investigators are still trying to find out who was responsible for the shootings, and the motive, although we may never learn the reason.

The medical examiner's office is performing autopsies on the couple to help determine what happened.
