The Washington County Drug Task Force, consisting of Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Chipley Police Department, reports the arrest of two men following a drug investigation as part of an ongoing marijuana eradication initiative.
Through months of undercover surveillance, investigators were able to identify and apprehend two suspects in separate cases involving marijuana cultivation.
The first of which was apprehended caring for the marijuana plants.
During a search of the property, investigators found a methamphetamine lab in the form of a shake and bake bottle which contained a substance which tested positive as methamphetamine.
Arrested was 52 year old John Ernest Grantham of Wausau and charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana, manufacturing of methamphetamine, and possession of a control substance without prescription.
During surveillance of a second location, investigators were able to apprehend the suspect in the process of caring for 5 of the 68 total marijuana plants found on the property.
Arrested was 32 year old Cody Durran Birge of Chipley and charged with cultivation of marijuana.
