PANAMA CITY BEACH-- This weekend Panama City Beach will host the US Specialty Sports Association's Softball Tournament at Frank Brown Park. The teams are of made up of players with ties to the military and come from all over the country.
The tournament's first games kicked off bright and early Thursday morning at 8. They featured games from the men's 40 and over division and mixed division. More than 80 teams representing all 5 branches of the military will hit the diamond this weekend.
Some players flew in from military bases overseas to join their team. The highlight of tournament will happened Thursday afternoon with the wounded warriors game.
"I get tears in my eyes every time I watch them play because spending a lot of time in Iraq and Afghanistan just like they did and then for them to come back and somebody there to help them and show them that life can go on without some of the things they're used to," Steve Widmer, Manager of Kentucky Ballers, said.
