Parker City Commissioners unanimously passed the 90 day moratorium on any additional mobile home parks Tuesday night. They did not give any reasons for the move following the vote resulting in uneasiness for residents.
Wednesday, city officials provided some insight into their decision. They say some of Parker’s mobile home parks are rundown, reflecting badly on the city. Parker Commissioners want to regulate mobile home parks to ensure they are well-maintained, but do not know if they actually have the authority because they are on private property.
In the meantime, the city passed the 90 day moratorium on any future mobile home developments until it learns whether it has jurisdiction over mobile home parks within city limits.
