Video Shows Disturbing Abuse at a Panhandle Youth Facility

The Florida Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) has released some disturbing video from the Milton girls’ juvenile residential facility.

It shows a DJJ officer leading a teen inmate at the privatized facility, and then suddenly banging the girls' head against the wall. The officer, Shannon Abbott then tosses the inmate to the ground.
The incident happened back on august 9th.

DJJ officials released a statement Wednesday saying they are deeply concerned by the incident, and that the video contradicts what the facility's managing company, Gulf Coast Youth Services, originally reported.

The state also say DJJ wasn't notified until 2-days after the incident, and only then after the victim called the state DCF abuse hotline.

Abbott's been charged with battery on a juvenile victim.

The Department of Children and Families and the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's office in Milton are investigated the incident.
