Walton County Sheriff's officials are reminding pedestrians and drivers to look out for each other.
The warning comes after a car hit and killed a pedestrian last week on County Road 393.
Oklaoosa County Sheriff's officials are also sounding the same caution.
Since the beginning of 2013 there have been nine pedestrians hit by vehicles in Destin, the majority of them on Highway 98.
"We certainly advise individuals to walk against the flow of traffic, so they can see what is going on ahead of them, and just wear bright clothing,” said Catherine Rodriguez, Public Information Officer.
Sheriff's officials also acknowledge drivers need to be more careful, by slowing down and being more alert.
