Walton County Commissioners met in a special session Thursday morning to discuss what's next in the flood recovery efforts.
Each department presented a list of repairs or tasks they need to accomplish.
Emergency Management personnel have borrowed six vehicles from the Florida National Guard to get into areas inaccessible with regular vehicles.
The county is requesting a joint damage assessment with state officials.
Those state crews will arrive Monday.
"This is going to be a long term operation, and people are going to have to be patient,” said Chairman Bill Chapman. “That water has to go somewhere, and it is going to take an enormous amount of time to get out, especially south of the bay."
County Commissioners will hold another meeting next week to discuss the cost of repairs.
