South Walton High School Bomb Scare

Updated: Thu 9:02 PM, Nov 08, 2012

The "all clear" has been given at South Walton High School after a bomb threat forced police to evacuate the school.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, a man told a staff member around 1:00 p.m. that he heard there was a bomb at the school that was going to go off. The man then ran away.

Deputies searched the area around the school and found the man, 18-year-old Edwin Donald Campbell of Santa Rosa Beach.

The school was evacuated then placed on lock down. Parents were allowed to pick up their kids.

The bomb squad from Eglin Air Force Base was called to assist. No bomb was found and the "all clear" was given around 4:45.

Campbell admitted making a false bomb threat, which is a second degree felony.
