WALTON COUNTY-- Walton County commissioners voted Tuesday to create more parking for the 30A corridor.
They approved a lease for some property on Highway 393 and 30A, from June 1 through Labor Day. The land will be used strictly for parking.
The county actually leased this property once before, for the same purposes.
Commissioners said the move will improve safety at the busiest time of the year.
"It will add another 80-90 parking spaces in that already crowded area of Ed Walline. And it will help us get some of those cars off 30A that are parked in dangerous locations," Commissioner Cindy meadows said.
Commissioners are still discussing the possibility of buying the land to create a permanent parking lot.
